Jon-Sigve
Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Law
“Ever since I was a child,” says Jon-Sigve, “I have had a strong opinion against anything I perceive as unjust. At first it might have been something minor, like the unequal distribution of lollipops among my friends, but having grown up in both a poverty stricken Western African country as well as in wealthy Norway, I became preoccupied with injustice on more of a global scale.
I got accepted to several universities, but chose ANU due to its great international reputation. I was also told that ANU had one of Australia’s leading law schools and that it offered several courses within the field of international law, which is the area of law I am the most interested in pursuing.
I believe my ANU degree will provide me with a solid foundation and a competitive edge that will allow me to pursue an interesting and rewarding career path, perhaps at some point working within an international organisation such as the United Nations. I am also certain that friendships and contacts made during my time at ANU will prove to be long lasting and valuable.”
